Maybe they will follow MoCo and announce that everyone receives the advanced curriculum..no differentiation required because we are all the same or could be if offered the same curriculum.

Sure, no one should need any individual attention, because we are all the same (or could be!). If we just take every baby from its mother at birth and treat them all exactly the same, they will all turn out the same as adults. What a utopia we could have!

I do not understand this thread.

Don't we have the duty to provide differenciated education for children who need it, the gifted as well as the learning disabled? With taxpayer money?

If the same service can be provided for cheaper, of course, that would be great.

The original post was weird but the suggestion that there could be no differentiation unless Fairfax continues to have costly AAP centers for Level IV instruction is pretty nuts, too.

I want to extend a heartfelt apology to you that your child was not accepted in the FCPS Advanced Academic Program. Given the sharp sarcasm in your post it's clear that this has been very hard on you. One can only hope that you haven't shared your sorrow and contempt with your innocent child.
Just know that we, out here in the cyber world, feel your pain. But now that you've vented and chided and vented some more, it is time to let it go.
AAP is just like Special Education, Speech, PT and OT. If a student demonstrates a need, the services are provided. This is not unique to FCPS. I understand if you don't like the process but it's time to let go.

The education system in the US is far behind most countries. Offering a faster paced curriculum to the 'smarter kids' seems very reasonable. Must we hold all kids back from their potential just to be 'fair'. Silly.

My guess is that OP's kid got in AAP just fine without "outside help" but is venting because the class size is too big and diluted per the reasons stated in the post. Correct?
