The assertion that only a small fraction of U.S. kids is smart enough for advanced program is unsubstantiated. Some of us believe many more kids are capable and need to be given an equal advancement opportunity. |
Umm, OP here... My child has been in the AAP program at a center school for two years now so I am not completely sure what it is that I am suppose to "let go" of. She loves her classmates at her AAP school and I'm pretty sure that I have not shared any sorrow or contempt with her for "not being" in a program that she is actually in. I do feel REALLY GUILTY about item #8 in my list though since my child gets all that extra sunlight, it makes me feel bad for the other students...

OMG, is this post for real?
Wait a minute - are you F-ing suggesting that gifted kids take easier coursework overall (i.e., dumb down their studies) because not enough african-american and hispanic students test into AAP? |
OMG - again, for real??? 15% more light? or is it 14.8395638 - did you use a Pilkington Sun Angle Calculator in every single classroom in Fairfax County to calculate the solar geometry variables? Did some other left wing loon working for the NAACP? This is insane. You are insane. If you want to make a difference and feel sorry for people, go volunteer at S.O.M.E. or House of Ruth or something. |
| Speaking of extra sunlight ... I recall a discussion at our PTA meeting about raising money to switch out all the bulbs in our school to full spectrum bulbs to simulate sunlight spectrum. Someone said that they do this in Russia to ease SADD symptoms and the byproduct was that ADD symptoms were reduced as well. So this could be a great equalizer for windowless classrooms. |
Yes, people who advocate for civil rights are "loons". You're the kind of special idiot that holds us back as a nation. |
|
No, you are the loon suggesting holding back gifted children because not enough minorities test into the gifted program to your satisfaction. Because you are a loon, your solution is too hold back all of the gifted children rather than try to HELP the underserved that you reference by, for example, suggesting an alternate test such as a basic IQ test that cannot be prepped for. Basically, your solution helps no one and punishes children in the gifted program by taking it away from them. How is that not insane? |
| What are you even talking about????? The NAACP is not proposing to eliminate or "dumb down" anything. Please, inform yourself! |
Is this discussion, and the thread topic itself, not "Prediction that AAP program will be terminated within the next 5 years"[b] with added citation to the NAACP suing? Or are you saying that the program is not facing elimination for all of your and the PP's stated reasons and the thread subject was a typo? |
Are you also taking the "FAT test encourages overweight kids to eat more" as fact? You are a piece of work. Try reading real sources of information and news. It will do wonders for you. |
| The new test is funny and all, but I'm starting to get a headache already seeing all the posts on testing. It would be very nice if there could at least be a break in AAP testing discussions till the tests actually come around. |
Um....easy solution for you...don't click on this thread. The end. |

I think the first post was SATIRE. I did not write it, but some of the bullets clearly indicated that it was not completely serious.
For you people that took it seriously, clearly you belong in a remedial class in humor. You are not AAP quality (I can not speak for your kids, though). |
