| Almost nothing. We have 3 kids and I hate grocery shopping. It's very rare that we throw out any food. |
| We started grocery shopping with cash only. Much like the PeaPod poster, we totally stopped wasting food. By the end of the week, our fridge is close to empty and I can clean it and stock it with new, fresh food. Love it! |
This is me too. Cash makes it easier to manage and I plan meals better with limited supplies (less odds and ends to go bad that were only used in one meal). |
| I find that if I prep the fruit & veggies (wash, slice if needed, etc.) as soon as we come home from the store, that helps. Then since they're ready to use, they're less likely to go bad. |
| We don't waste much unless we lose electricity for too long. We are trying to buy more organic produce, grass fed beef, free range chicken, and at that price there is no way I am letting anything go to waste. I am happy to eat leftovers. |
We don't do Leftover night but I do shop every two days or so. Our meals are simple: meat (stored in our deep freeze), veggie, salad and maybe a grain or bread if we are in the mood. Dh takes leftovers to work and we do throw out my son's leftovers. We cook in scaled down portions such that our leftovers are just the meat. We do toss out the occasional half bag of salad of we haven't been in the mood lately. Dh and I also eat leftovers for lunch on our telecommuting days. Biggest tip is to buy only good that you have a plan for. Helps with overbuying |

We used to have terrible waste because we were both shopping, not communicating, and buying too much at once.
The FM makes it easier because the food is so good we're eager to eat it, and then there's no aimless buying of perishables. It also helps to buy FM meat because it's all frozen, and just gets thawed a meal at a time. If I mess up now, the chickens eat almost everything. Slightly off fish and meat, old greens. It's still waste but it doesn't feel as bad as just throwing stuff away. |
