Romney Goes Birther!

Or where Obama's American family is other than his own children and wife. If this was one thing, just one question mark on a straightforward kind of guy, then I don't think people would press the issue so much, like how McCain was born overseas. But in his case, almost 1/2 of his life is a big ass question mark to me and a lot of people. Even bios I read online thinking I should give him the benefit of the doubt and read up on this skip MOST of his life.

Jesus fucking Christ. OK:

His parents were living in Maui when Obama was born. They were both undergrad in the University of Hawaii, and met in a Russian Lit class. His mom was from Kansas, and his dad was from Kenya -- not Indonesia -- and was here on a foreign student scholarship.

After high school, Obama attended Occidental College from 1979-1981. He transferred to Columbia in 1981 as a poll sci major and graduated in 1983. From 1983-1985, he worked at Business International Corporation and the New York Public Interest Research Group. From 1985-1988, he worked as a community organizer for Developing Communities Project. 1988-1991, he went to Harvard Law. From 1991-2004, he was at the University of Chicago School of Law as a teaching fellow and ultimately a professor. He was an Illinois State Senator from 1997-2004, and a U.S. Senator from 2005-2008. All of this took me 30 seconds to find on Wikipedia. I don't know what members of the Obama family you are interested in, but you can find the locations of over 20 of them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obama_family

Like Obama, don't like Obama, whatever. But the mere suggestion that his "life prior to the Senate a couple of years ago leaves mostly question marks" is a pile of crap perpetuated by a bunch of biased talking heads.

You, my friend, are not far from the truth, albeit I would use a bit more toned-down adjectives. This should be the landslide of all landslides, but it won't be due to a poorly chosen candidate, and even more poorly chosen VP. But all still better than the worst president in American history (Obama).

This is shaping up as a landslide for Obama. Anyone who believes that George W. Bush was a better president than Obama is delusional. Bush took office with the country enjoying record budget surpluses. He left office with two wars underway and record budget deficits. Obama certainly could have done a better job of cleaning up Bush's messes, but he is clearly a much better president.

You reference data from wikipedia, note how it can be fluidly altered by pro or anti factions and not necessarily a credible source.

You did note that the first article posted was NOT from Wikipedia, right?

You believe that with all the scrutiny on President Obama, nobody would notice if his Wikipedia page were altered in such a manner as to be inconsistent with other sources of information about him? Also, you expect us to take you seriously?

At a campaign rally today, Romney started off by saying, "No one ever asked to see my birth certificate." Never mind that Romney's father, who was born in Mexico, ran for president.

Romney is correct that nobody has asked to see his birth certificate. Similarly, nobody has asked to see President Obama's tax returns. Will Romney release his tax returns when Obama releases his birth certificate? Oh, that's right, Obama has released his birth certificate.

To the poster who is complaining in nearly every thread that we aren't discussing the economy, maybe you should have a talk with your candidate?

The Constitution requires that the President be a U.S. citizen - it does not require any particular tax returns.

And with all due respect, Obama's father is from Kenya, Obama grew up in Indonesia, and most of his family here are illegals - naturally, people are going to wonder, some more than others, if he was even born here.

Releasing tax returns is not a requirement
Are you suggesting that he deserves to harassed because of his family's choices? I thought we didn't believe in collective punishment in the United States.

I applaud your exasperated efforts pp, but people this stupid will never understand facts. If the guy didn't know that Obama is a Harvard law grad, and a con law professor, he doesn't likely even know how relevant that is to his credentials to be a leader in the law. Too bad he still gets a vote.

I know, I know. But honestly, other people are lurking and reading this thread, right? I was mostly posting for them.

True, but that is a tiny bar to climb over. I think George W Bush will go down in history as possibly the worst president of all time. However, I am afraid that Obama will not end up being regarded as much better. He extended Bush's tax cuts. he doubled down on the war in Afghanistan ( it is a bigger mess and far more dangerous for US soldiers now), he established a policy of killing US citizens without due process, the deficit is hugely out of control... I could go on. The bottom line is the past 12 years has been arguably led by two of the worst President's in history. Very depressing.
