Right you are. However, the NY Attorney General does enforce NY's tax laws. How come no one can explain how Mitt came to have a $100M IRA given the very low annual contribution limits? |
That was explained here: http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-08-26/romney-tax-returns-show-strategy-for-moving-money-to-kids |
I agree that some of his investments might be in things that would turn off the Tea Partiers and right to lifers (investments in companies that do a lot of offshoring, that make money through redistributing funds to the wealthy rather than producing anything of tangible value, companies that are linked to abortion, and so on -- for more, see
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/greed-and-debt-the-true-story-of-mitt-romney-and-bain-capital-20120829) I also wonder if most of his charitable giving comes in the form of donations to the LDS church, which again would be a huge red flag to a lot of religious supporters and to people who want to argue that private charity is better than government programs. |
Good grief. I'm an attorney. My wife is an engineer. Despite all of our education, we have to spend about $1,000 a year on a tax professional just to figure out whether we're paying Uncle Sam the right amount. And guys like Mitt Romney can game the system to load up an IRA with $100 million. The tax code needs to be reformed. It should be simpler and fairer. I'm sorry, but there's no way on earth that I should pay 30% to Uncle Sam while at the same time struggling to save for my retirement, much less put enough away for my kids' future college educations (which will top $100k each per year at this rate, if not more), while Mitt Romney makes $57,000 a day and pays 13% gaming the tax code. |
Perhaps, but how much credibility do you really give to an anonymous Internet poster? Me, not necessarily so much. |
Of course I view any Internet post with skepticism. But calling someone "Myth" or "Barry" or some other childish thing just makes the trolls easier to spot. |
Well, I'm the OP and not a troll. I also like the nickname Lyin' Ryan. Since we had to sit through how many years of "Sore/Loserman" bumper stickers and lawn signs, I feel like an internet forum is a suitable place to write these things. Childish but cathartic. My apologies for burning your retinas. |
2009 IRS Forgives Hiding funds in off shore banks - pay taxes and all is forgivn and forgotten. That would be Romney's fatal flaw if revealed |
Multi wives, big love style |
I hate to say it, but if you and your wife can't legally engineer paying lower than 30%, than that's your fault. Even Biden can figure out how to do it for goodness sake, and we all know it's not by giving to charity either. Lower your taxable income by the dozens of ways that the tax code allows you to. |
