Place out of Annandale HS by selecting the AP program, either at Woodson, Lake Braddock, or Falls Church (based on the school that is closest to your home). You do have to provide transportation however. Another option is to opt for private high school. |
You should at least go visit the schools and talk to some adults before moving. Kids say "terrible things" about all schools. Go to Great Falls and you'd find kids saying terrible things about Langley. And some of them would be true, but not as dramatic as 12-year-olds make them sound. |
I am closer to Falls Church HS, which I am not too keen on. If my child is AP, does that mean he would go to the closest school or can we choose? Lake Braddock is too far of a drive! It's damn far from us... Also, I really want to live somewhere where all the kids go to the same school. |
Yes, if you were transferring to an AP school from Annandale, and Falls Church was the closest AP school, that would be your option, not Lake Braddock. |
| Kids in Great Falls call McLean HS the ghetto. |
It's true. Of course they'd say the same thing about Woodson, too, if it were next door. It might be a good argument against sending your kids to Langley. |
| Glad I don't live in Great Falls then. |
This is what some Langley kids in Great Falls consider normal, so of course a $750k or $800k split-level in McLean or Falls Church is "ghetto" to them: http://richkidsofinstagram.tumblr.com/ |
| 08/16/2012 18:30 here, yes the wakefield chapel area. There are some homes on the market right now, but I most might be out of your budget right now. There were some right in your budget this past spring, but they went fast. I know someone with a nice place on Tollhouse is going to sell fairly soon, but it will be in the 600s. I have seen lots of places on the market outside of wakefield, but perhaps they are not right for you OP. |
