I am just quoting on what Washpo has stated as Kaya's reaction to the news.

Head of DCPS data and accountabity, hired last September, is leaving for New Orleans.

Plus, this year there were PIAs, aka DC CAS Jr. (My 1st grader was taught how to fill in bubbles, but can't spell the word test correctly. Asked me if he should be cramming this summer because "tesses are so important for the school!" )

Not holding my breath for results. But can we get some guidance on what NCLB waiver means for individual school goals? 75% proficiency by 2017 would be great citywide. What about schoolls at or near there? Any incentives there?

Here's the examiner article on Cate Swinburn stepping down as chief of Data and Accountability http://washingtonexaminer.com/dcps-director-who-oversees-testing-integrity-data-is-stepping-down/article/2501019

She's following her husband to New Orleans. She currently has no job. You think she's wait until the DC-CAS results were announced, but then maybe not.

oh wait -according to the Examiner article, Swinburn isn't leaving until October - so she is till in charge of DC-CAS, which makes her the person to contact about when they are coming out and what's the delay.

So late. Can't be good.

Maybe manipulating them to make them look as good as possible.

The OSSE NCLB site is down today. Perhaps they are uploading the 2012 CAS data. I bet the data release is this week and I am going to bet that it is good news.

The OSSE NCLB was down yesterday too.

Ooooo the anticipation! You can probably sense if there's good news or not by the Mayor's schedule. A press release would have been announcing a meeting.

The Mayor's schedule isn't what it used to be, though. . .

In the past, the press release and conference preceded the updates to the OSSE site. Last year, the news was bad, but you really ahd to read between the lines to figure it out. They Jayor and the Chancellor were all smiles.

Also, in the past, the OSSE site did not go down for days before the posting of new scores.

In the past, I remember, press release in early July ~10th, with high level scores released. Schools had the rest of July to scrub scores for their students. Release of school by school data in late July / early Aug.

Today, we're after the general release, before the school specific one. Maybe they've decided to only have one release? (which makes more sense to me, if schools edit data, doesn't that mean the roll up also changed?)

Can you just imagine all the spin words that are being formulated for the announcement?

they've had those ready long before the scores came out. Spin is their specialty.

PS - The OSSE site is still down
