Best SUV with 3 rows with captains chairs in second row

Find a used Ford Freestyle or Taurus X. They are outstanding.

We are trading in DH's FJ for a Tahoe Denali XL. He rode in a friend's a couple of weeks ago and fell in love. We also have a minivan and that really is best with 3 kids, carpooling, school drop off, etc.

Our Acadia's captain's chairs are great and the 3rd row is definitely comfortable. It seats 3 adults technically, but I'm not sure 3 would be comfortable back there. 3 kids would be fine though. I've sat back there myself for shorter trips (although I really feel like I'm being chauffeured around b/c the car is so big).

The bonus on the Acadia (compared to some of the luxury brands) is that it takes regular gas.

We tested the Highlander and just found it to be a little small to fit all of our gear. Nice car to drive, but didn't seem like an upgrade in size.

We had a Buick Enclave, which was totaled in a crash recently. I loved it. We are keeping our options open, but I haven't found anything so far that I like better. Held up well in our crash, we walked away unscathed. I would highly recommend it, and we will probably end up buying another.

What's the difference between a Tahoe and a Tahoe Denali?

We have the a 2016 Honda Pilot and it has captains chairs in the second row. My husband has a Tahoe, but we much prefer driving in the Pilot as a family. It's a lot more comfortable ride.

I just went through this search and decided on the Pilot. It has better leg room (noticeably, to me) vs the highlander, and also better trunk space (significant difference since I still have to fit a stroller in there plus whatever else). I've been driving it for a week and love it. Fwiw, I usually buy Toyota and didn't want to make the switch but it was a no brainier once I did the comparison.

Everyone in Mclean is driving the Infiniti suddenly - I peeked inside and it does have a great layout

Mercedes R-Class has a center console in the second row that can be removed for the captains seats look but they do not swivel.

No, PP was confused. It's a Chevy Tahoe or a GMC Denali. Same body, GMC is the lower price point make.

Actually it's checkup Tahoe or GMV Yukon. Denali is the higher trim level which also has a bigger engine, and XL is the same size as a suburban.

But some dumb PP decided to add her two cents to a 2 year old thread so I doubt OP cares at this point.

This thread is from 2012.

Acadia/Traverse/Enclave The body style of the Traverse makes that 3rd row really tight, good for elementary kids. The Acadia might have a bit more headroom back there.

I have an Enclave in this style. LOVE it!

HAHAHA - the worst drivers are behind the wheel of a Suburban/Tahoe/Denali/GMC Yukon type full size American SUVs - always black or white. It is a phenomenon. LOL.
