Id check out the Barristers area of Vienna, off Lawyers before Hunter Mill. Houses in the 700s and 800s and Vienna ES/Madison HS.

Just by researching the great schools rankings and word of mouth, freedom hill, cunningham, marshall road and stenwood were not recommended.

Great Falls essentially has one or two one lane roads to and from. BAD idea.

That area is assigned to Louise Archer ES, not Vienna ES.

People rave about Stenwood and it gets an 8 on GreatSchools.

Pimmit hills 22043 feeds into west gate which gets a 10 rating and into marshal high which is the #3 school in virginia, #55 out of 24000 nationally.

I live in Falls Hill Great family neighborhood, right off the W &OD Trail with a neighborhood pool. Schools are Shrevewood/Kilmer/Marshall. People here really seem to like the neighborhood (as do I).

There are some rental homes and sales are in the low $700's with some in the 600's and some in the higher 700's.

all the elementary schools that feed into mclean HS (haycock, lemon road, kent gardens) are excellent and at most 10 minutes from old dominion/dolly madison. there are lots of town houses in this area too. You could definitely get a rental for $3k or around there.

Zips are 22101, 22043, and 22046 (although parts of 22046 are falls church city schools and not fairfax county schools-mt Daniel elementary, also an excellent school).

Great falls to that part oF McClean is about 20-30 minutes tops taking gtown pike. There are a couple nice neighborhoods in Langley pyramid in the 700k range. Smaller and older (70's) houses, but you cannot get better schools.

Slim pickings and such houses are rarely in good condition. Not really worth the effort when there are better options outside the Langley pyrmaid closer to central McLean.

I disagree that $700M prices you out of McLean entirely. I moved here a little over a year ago and we bought a house in Broyhill Glen Gary Park (near the intersection of Old Dominion and Birch) for $680M. My neighborhood is about a 5-10 drive to your husbands office. I've seen for rent signs up for a few houses in the neighborhood so you should check it out OP.

We live in Vienna and have lots of friends in all of the various elementary schools and there really are no bad options. People who denigrate Cunningham Park or Freedom Hill probably really have not personally experienced it or talked to enough people about the school to justify their position.

If you want an AAP center, go to Louise Archer
If you want LLIV and FLES (starting next year for Spanish), go to Flint Hill ES.
If you want more diversity, go to Freedom Hill.
I think Wolftrap also has LLIV, Vienna does not but it is the smallest of the Schools which is something to consider.
If you want to live in Vienna Woods and/ or walk to town, do Cunningham Park or Vienna Elementary, also Louise Archer.

Wolftrap is a split feeder (splits off between Marshall and Madison); Louise Archer, Vienna, Flint Hill, Cunningham Park all solely go to Madison (I think).

Not sure but I think Marshall Road splits between Oakton and Madison )AAP for Marshall Road goes to Mosby Woods.

You can easily buy something under $700K in Pimmit Hills. It's not as ritzy as other neighborhoods surrounding it, but your husband's commute will be a 5-minute dream and your daughter can walk to a very nice Westgate elementary. Lots of parks, tons of families with young kids, close to shops and future metro.
