Im fairly young (23) and I helped vote out the only DC mayor I never heard of being corrupt. It hurts me to my heart in way you white people who just moved to DC in your overpriced condos will ever understand. I remember not being able to pay my senior fees because my job with Juma Ventures at the National's Ballpark Stadium(which was built after the government torn down a black neighborhood) didnt pay me after a month and a half. It was Kwame Brown who wrote me a check for 400 dollars only after Brown campaign threated the company with a lawsuits did i get my money. At my graduation Vincent Gray gave the final speech(before he was mayor). Im not defending them neither if I believe the should be thrown in dc jail the same way you throw us young latinos and blacks in for staring back at the police wrong. But voting for a white person it out of the question so YES IT DOES MATTER AND THE DC GOVERNMENT KNOWS THIS that why they strongarmed the seat. Are you crazy after my neigborhood(Temple Court/The Market) was torn down the built a parking lot and condos for white people after the neigborhood i moved to after that was turned into Adams Morgan. I seen more white police in DC in the last tens years than I do in PG and none of them are from anywhere near here. DC is becoming more openly racist than Virigina.
I'm sorry to say, but your post is a perfect example of open racism. All of those changes to your neighborhood that you deplore occurred under the leadership of black mayors. Maybe you need to look deeper than skin color when choosing leaders?
As a Washingtonian by choice, rather than birth, I have great respect for DC's natives -- even those who were born after my arrival. I strongly support measures to improve the lives of DC's poorest residents and believe in lifting up rather than pushing out the less fortunate among us. I would like to think that people like you and people like me could work together toward solutions that benefit us both. But, due to my skin color, I'm afraid that you wouldn't share a similar goal. That is a loss for both of us.

I wanted to say one more thing. Please continue to post in our forums. You will probably piss off most of the posters, but we'll all survive. While I might not agree with you, your voice is one that we need to hear.
