Who shit in your coffee? Boarding first is not about being "entitled" or "special", it's about getting a lot of stuff sorted out, assembled, and put away so that YOU can have a better boarding experience because WE will not be blocking the aisle for 5 minutes while attempting to corral a couple of little kids, car seats, etc. |
Agreed. |
Aw, shucks! |
Yes. It doesn't matter to me whether we board first -- in fact, I like being the last on the plane so the kids aren't cooped up any longer than they have to. But I'm going to install the carseat no matter when I board, so it might benefit you to let us on first. |
The title of this website is dcurban mom and dads aka families. Go rant and diarrhea your mouth on loneywhoreblog.com or craigslist gay hookups |
| who needs a 20 pound stroller?! |
| I bet they did this because families were taking up too much overhead bin space, with the fees for baggage. |
|
Um....your carseat doesn't go on the aisle so simply put it in the seat and move out of the aisle.
Not rocket science. |
Amen - like a few other PPs, I'd rather not spend extra time on the plane with my kids so we can get a few last wiggles out before takeoff, but I do care about overbooking and late departures. It didn't used to be that hard to get on another flight if you missed one thanks to a bad connection or weather delay, and now it can mean a full day wasted in airports. Go ahead and make my family board with everyone else, but please get us there on time or at least that same day! |
OP here. We travel with 2 small children. I bring my double bumbleride EVERYWHERE and the monster weighs way over 20lbs. We can keep both contained, we can stuff all our carryons there and it's safer for everybody. They have a place to sleep if the flight gets delayed or canceled (what happens 1 out of 2 times we fly) a place to seat and eat - we can find highchairs everywhere, you know? - and we go to all sort of places where a skinny umbrella stroller would be more pain then help, so we bring our monster truck with us everywhere. DH travels for work, usually between 2-4 flights per week and it's been a long time since we flew United/Continental. We fly the cheapest no matter what - work or not - so this is not an issue for us. I always talk to him about the hate for kids in the plane that I see here on DCUM but he can't understand what you guys are talking about. He said that what bothers him the most is the ginormous fat guy occupying half of his seat or the guy in the middle seat taking both armrests. We also bring carseats to the plane and my main concern with this "new" policy is that we'll have to ask the passengers in the aisle to move out of the way so we can install the carseats by the window what will take much more time and space than letting us go first to get it all done quickly. |
I recognize you. You're the vitriol-filled poster from the other thread about the woman and her family in the Chipotle. You can't possibly have kids (at least, I truly hope you don't), so I don't know why you come to dcurbanmom.com. |
To be fair, there were a lot of people (myself included) who think Chipotle Mom is a nitwit. |
Perhaps you don't fly often so allow me to explain (not the PP) the plane will not take off until EVEVRYONE is sitting down seats buckled. So, if mom or dad takes 10 min to install a car seat, you business traveler will be waiting, in the aisle, while he/she stands in the middle seat, installing the car seat by the window. If you do fly often, and are just not smart, tell me what happens when someone is standing in the aisle....DING! Right! Other people can not pass to get to their seats and the flight is delayed. |
I'm the OP here and the OP there. It's not about entitlement, it's about making life easier on everybody. I usually buy the seats all the way in the back so my children don't disturb all the passengers, boarding and leaving the plane is much easier if you don't have the entire aircraft staring at you. But mostly we fly Southwest. They have the best system ever. |
I know. But there was one repeat poster in particular whose posts were just dripping with hate and contempt. The above post was written by the same poster. |
