Ironic complaint from a Republican. It's your stupid immigration policies that are going to keep foreign born entrepreneurs from building companies here. Half of the big tech giants were started by immigrants and guess what- they are having such a tough time getting permission to work that they are going back to their home countries after they get their American degrees.

Thanks for reminding me about how much Republicans suck.

the piggy self absorbed rich have historically hawve moved their capital if not themselves rather than share their wealth to improve the homeland that gave them the engine to earn their.wealth. It's all mine, I won't pay tax. I'll move my money offshore to keep it all.. Hmmm sounds familiar....not Buffett, not Gates. oh now I remember it was Romney that did that..

Forbes says it will raise his taxes. He will lower his tax rate but it will accelerate the tax bill so he has to pay up the day he renounces citizenship.

Plus he hasn't even lived in the US since 2009.

If you dont pay taxes you shouldnt have any say on how taxes get spent

Taxing the rich will result in MORE revenue.

Only in the short term In the long term it will result in less revenue.

Actually it is our tax laws that cause businesses to build companies and/or send jobs oversees.

No, it's cheap labor. Why pay someone $8.00 an hour when you can move the job to Indonesia and pay $1.50 a day.

Nobody relocates for taxes. If you need a foreign subsidiary you create one.

The jobs are based in wages, skills, and the case of manufacturing the shipping cost of goods to the end market.

Um, no. The nonpartisan revenue estimates by the CBO, JCT and Tax Policy Center are quite clear that raising marginal income tax rates on the highest earners result in more revenue over a 10-year window. This is simple fact. Not sure what you're smoking to be so delusional.

You don't know how the business world works, do you?

There are many factors that go into moving overseas. The biggest one is that 95% of the world market is outside the U.S. If you want to sell cars to the Chinese, it makes sense to build a factory in China. If you want to sell Coca-Cola to the Indians, build a bottling plant in Mumbai.

Considerations that go into plant locations include labor costs, energy costs, supply chain management, transportation costs, available human capital (i.e., are the workers skilled), and yes, to some degree taxes. But it's an ingredient in the decision-making and not a prime motivator.

This is a pretty poor showing for an economist. Kind of embarrassing.

I love the Republican stance on raising taxes:

- It's okay to reduce medicare, welfare, social security and unemployment benefits so that those who are below the poverty level, or in the lower middle class have less income annually.
- It's okay to freeze federal workers pay and retirements so that the middle class and upper middle class federal employees get less income annually.
- It's okay to reduce public funding for police forces so that middle class police officers get less income annually.
- It's okay to reduce education funding so that middle class teachers and school employees get less income annually.

- It's not okay to raise the tax rate of those making over $1M despite them having one of the lowest effective tax rates in the last 70 years
- It's not okay to eliminate some of the tax loopholes that allow the wealthiest Americans to effectively pay a lower tax rate than the rest of the population.

Why force any other part of the population to support the under performing.
