Why is dairy bad?

I've been doing reading on reduction of dairy in response to allergies (for my son). We use Almond Milk as an alternative.

We eat cheese and yogurt. My children refuse to drink milk. I think it is fine in small amounts, just like fats, sugars, and caffeine.

It is trendy to hate milk/dairy. You can find research to support any side of the debate, look at the arguments around eggs and coffee. Oh and the whole wine scandal...

That said, I going to have some triple cream camebert and a glass of malbec followed by an espresso! You inspired me.

Non-organic milk tends to be the villain because of all the pus, hormones, etc often found in it.I can't drink non-organic milk or eat non-organic yogurt. I sound like a snob, but for me it's not the lactose giving me issues, it's the crap in the non-organic dairy. Supposedly, the quality is not what we drank growing up.

I've been meaning to read the book Whitewash for a while. http://www.amazon.com/Whitewash-Disturbing-Truth-About-Health/dp/0865716765/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1336682906&sr=1-4 If anyone one has read it, let me know what you think of it.

The dairy industry is pretty powerful and there is a lot more the government should do to keep milk safe.

Cow's milk is a food for baby cows, just as breast milk is a food for baby humans. Are you a baby cow? Cow's milk is designed to meet the nutritional needs of cows and not humans.

Of course, cow's milk has been so screwed up by BigAgra, it probably isn't good for calves as it is sold today.

I stopped dairy products when my BIL, a developmental pediatrician, pointed out that dairy products really were never intended for humans.

That said, I still eat dairy, but I have tried to cut back. I do feel better physically when I don't eat as much.

I agree. If you're interested in this topic, the china study is a must-read. I have tried to cut back, but it's difficult...

Apparently (and I don't know how much of this I believe, but still) milk is terrible because it steals calcium from your bones and has too much protein. Or something.

Why do thepediatricians tell us to feed the little ones milk for the calcium if it really steals from the bones?

This is horseshit.

If you knew the basics about nutrition you'd never have said that.

Cow's milk has much more protein than your digestive system can tolerate causing our blood to become super acidic. To neutralize the acidic environment our body has to use all the calcium it has free and some of what's stored in our bones causing us to LOSE calcium instead of accumulating it.

Not to mention that all the calcium in the milk gets in the way of the absorption of iron so we should NEVER drink milk with any meal and just watch everybody feeding their children dinner with milk. What a waste!
