The school pushes each student to take at least one ib

I'm totally psyched to hear about Marshall! We are zoned for Marshall and I was concerned. Friends kept saying it was a good school, but I was skeptical.

FWIW, I'd be curious as to how the IB participation rate at George Mason or George Marshall was determined to be 99%.

Mason is Falls Church City's high school. The FCCPS schools incorporate the IB curriculum from K through 12, so it becomes a very familiar way of thinking. By the time kids are in high school (and given the overall demos of Falls Church), it's not surprising that just about everyone is taking at least one IB class.

Expect rapid appreciation in housing prices if this trend continues which it will because as prices go higher the more affleunet are attracted and the quality of the students go up

Thanks for posting this. We are trying to avoid IB so we now know to stay away from FCC.

Why would you avoid ib it is a great way to get kids ready for college

I am envious of some co workers who are psyced about marshall, i guess we can tout our neighborhoods more expensive mclean prices but i guess housing will equalize with mclean if this trend continues

My kids are at Marshall, and we've spent years defending it to people who don't realize the top-notch education they are providing over there. I am thrilled to see it get the recognition it deserves.

PP, how did you like Kilmer? My kids are still in grade school but one will be at Kilmer soon.

We prefer AP

I still think the 99% IB participation rates listed for Mason and Marshall are bogus. Will be interesting to see if FCPS puts out a press release that touts these ratings, or instead waits until they've been scrubbed more closely.

My youngest was at Kilmer when we moved here. It has a wonderful layout that is really easy for the kids to find their way around in and we thought his classes and teachers were excellent.

this is funny since South Lakes was nowhere to be seen on the list. Anyone want to speculate why? (I don't know).
