How can Republicans be "true Christians" and followers of Ayn Rand at the same time?

Not meeting a certain standard or value in life doesn't mean that you can't be "for" it.

Is there not a verse in the bible where Jesus said you must 'follow me' and vote republican?

Ok, serious but short answer.

As a Christian, I believe that I have a moral obligation as a personal choice to help others.

As someone who espouses some of Rand's philosophies, I am very opposed to many of the ways in which the government requires wealth re-distribution.

Great. So they should ban divorce. Because right now it just seems like they are "pro-traditional marriage for other people".

Haldol appropriate for most right sing loonies. I'd suggest this would be more appropriate for the poster that mentioned the drug
Haloperidol is used to treat psychotic conditions that cause difficulty telling the difference between things or ideas that are real and things or ideas that are not real

I believe there is a statement in the Bible about taxes and giving to the State. Your first statement includes a presumption not included in the Bible. Moreover, one's personal choices can be made, in part, through one's voting preferences.

Obviously, no one is perfect, and we all fail to live up to our own standards. But I certainly am tired of people bitching to me about not living up to their presumed superior values when they fail to do so. BTW. Did you know the divorce rates are lower in blue states than red states?

Uh, no one said that. Reading is not your strong suit.

Oh, no dumb ass, the thread asks how Republicans can be followers of Ayn Rand and still be "true Christians." BTW, I get 100% on reading comprehension on standardized testing (e.g., LSATs).

I don't know anyone who is "pro-abortion." Do you?

I know the majority of Americans favor keeping abortion legal as a medical procedure. A strong majority. But that's not "pro-abortion."

There's also no cognitive dissonance in your example either.

Are you asking how the party can be composed of people who don't agree on everything? Because that is a stupid question.

Not all republicans are even Christian. Plus, plenty of jewish people will be voting republican in this upcoming election (at least according to a bunch of doctors/dentists in MoCo who are closing their practices thanks to the Dems, and in light of what we've done in the middle east as it affects Israel).

Actually Jews support Obama in greater numbers per capita than Christians... So, you're uninformed guess is wrong.

But as a Christian you are called upon, by your Christ, to give up your earthly possessions and follow him. Jesus was very, very, VERY adamantly against wealth and the wealthy.
