| Nanny here- Interesting to read this thread. Wonder if the people posting are the same ones who begrudge their nanny a 5 minute personal phone call. |

Government worker?

| I took off once and went to Hershey Park on opening day with our kids. It was fun. We took leave. Can't we have fun too? |
Ha! I'm the friend in this story! This was a fantastic day!! You need to come back so we can do it again! Of course my kid doesn't need a babysitter anymore (or does she in college?)
"My friend and I decided to leave work early one Friday. She had just been made supervisor and didn't have any employees yet and her work was done for the week. I told my supervisor that I had forgotten about a Dr. Appointment and that I needed to leave in a hour and I didn't think I would make it back because I had to have a couple of tests done (I recently had a few medical problems). I left about 30-40 minutes after my friend and and met her at our favorite bar. I then called her mom and told her we (the office) were having a surprise party for my friend for her promotion but the babysitter fell through and would she mind taking her granddaughter for the night. In our defense we were great friend and knew our time together was coming to an end. I was getting married and leaving the country in six weeks time." |
No you need to come here because I need a sitter unless your girl is home and wiling to watch two little ones. |
| My workplace is so relaxed that people don't do work. For a while I loved t but now it's just shameful. One guy worked "full time" 9-3 a few days a week, had a second job, AND took two hours lunches. During his yearly review he took credit for everyone else's work so he looked busy. Another coworker shows up at 1pm and leaves at 6pm. Takes days off left and right. It's morale-killing. |
Hahaha! Nope. I've just put in a lot of years with this company and have a lot of leeway with my time. I have a ton of friends and a busy social life so there's always something going on. |

At my first job out of college, we had very busy periods and very slow periods. One of our very slow periods always fell during march Madness, so it was not uncommon for our entire department to take a few 3-hour lunches during the first couple rounds of games. We also frequently went out drinking together - on school nights - and would show up hungover en masse the next day. Aah, good times.
My current company has yearly golf outings where we can all take vacation hours and go play together. |

I get my hair cut on work hours. Every 2 months or so i'm gone an hour or two without using leave.
I go to lunch once a month with a friend, gone up to 90 minutes I use my own leave all the time for fun things - i dont even think that it (or some of the examples from PP - are worth blinking an eye about; isn't that what we earn vacation time for!!? |
I do this too, only it's usually with my boss. We consider it to be excellent morale building. |
| This thread makes me love counting time in six minute increments. |
In other words, you have no problem with lying. |
