Why stay in DC when none (yes, including upper NW schools) seem to compare to Arlington?????????????

Real reason is either you don't have kids or you have kids and are selfish not wanting the best for your kids vs convienance

Because there are many more educational opportunities within walking distance of my home in downtown DC than there would be in Arlington, and we are the type of family that makes full use of those resources and likely would not to the same extent if we had to drive/take metro.

And, because I absolutely love my child's charter school. Nothing like it exists in Arlington.

Right, because what is best for my kid is definitely having my add an extra hour to my and my husband's commute, spending less time with them in the morning and at night, and having us both stressed from spending an hour in traffic every day. All much better for them than eating breakfast and dinner with their parents everyday and going to a wonderful elementary school with great teachers and a diverse student body, and a middle school with a top-notch IB program.

Thanks PP, you have really shown me the error of my ways! I mean, they are both A students and speak fluent Spanish, but I hadn't realized until now how I am ruining their lives and certainly blowing their opportunity to get into Harvard. All for my shorter commute. I'm so selfish.

Because I don't want to raise my family in a culturally backward, politically offensive, socially constricted, geographically unwalkable neighborhood filled with closet Limbaugh apologists and people who believe that Obama is a Kenyan communist.

I live in DC, think Obama is from Kenya, don't really care too much for limbaugh but whatever and still send my kid to a DC primary. Also I'm voting Romney.

Arlington is as lib or worse than dc

Voting for Romney is fine, but this statement makes you an idiot.

Yes, but it is still in the state of Virginia, who legislature is dominated by right-wing nutjobs. I wouldn't mind living in Arlington, if it wasn't in Virginia.

Neither is Virginia, it is a commonwealth.

How are either of these points relevant?

That was a joke to rile up the Arlington liberals. Arlington also has a terrible illegal alien problem.

b/c I like walking to work

+1. Our charter has a head teacher, assistant teacher, and aide making the ratio better than most privates.

I like walking to work too.

I think it is WRONG to recognize Martin Luther King Jr and and Lee Jackson on the same day. Even though Virginia has seen the error of this, the fact that they had
Lee–Jackson–King Day for over 15 years is telling.
