hit or miss. We have a coffee table and tv console from them that are great. Have had both for 3+ years and they have hled up well. We also have a hutch/desk that is just ok. Assembling the hutch was a nightmare that involed multiple trips to the store to exchange parts because the parts weren't drilled properly. When assembled one drawer wouldn't fit or slide. I'm pretty handy and can't assembel thing with no problem and that thing gave me a run for my money.
That said I think a bed is simple enough that it should hold up well. |
| OP here, thank you very much for all the replies! We'll definitely go with WM. Now to find a bed... |
| If you have them deliver you can pay for assembly. |
| Oh my goodness. This thread restores my faith in humanity. As a designer who frequently recommends WM and other similar stores to clients on a budget, I'm so glad to hear others love it, too. Because really, who buys a $20,000 dining table? |
| PP, you sound like just the designer I need. Can you post some info about your services? |
| any info on the rugs from VM? need for under the dining room (have two little kids) table and runners for the kitchen, so real workhorses |
|
OP here. Wow, talk about thread resurrection.
Anyway, we did go with WM for coffee table, tv console, bed, and dining table set. Tip: Don't bother w assembly services. The guys who delivered the furniture took way longer than we would have (from Rockville store, though delivery company is separate from WM). If you have a cordless drill/driver w hex bit attachments, you'll be good to go. |
Thanks! I do one-time consultations for about $300, and I offer hourly services (color consultation, specification of finishes/furnishings/space planning, shopping, full service design) for about $100 an hour. My clients are in the DC metro area and many are first-time homeowners or new families looking for style without spending millions...or...even tens of thousands sometimes. Generally, people are often needing a hand to hold while they pull the trigger on design items, but many are lost from the start. I've found that even when you're just spending $10k to furnish and fill out a home, it makes a huge difference to take 10% of that to ensure you're doing it right. |
OT, but..l Is there a way to contact you? We'll need this service this summer! I'd love a plan that we can implement in stages. I.e., window treatments and paint before we move into our new home plus essential furniture, then finishing the rest of the home over the next year or two. |
