I have never thought twice about it. Had a good friend in college who referred to herself as Persian so I did too. I will call people whatever they want me to call them.

I have never been more GROSSED OUT by a group of people in my life! Well..Skinheads, The KKK, Black Panthers, and generally any prejudiced group MIGHT be more disgusting. MAYBE. The Housewives (All Casts) have NOTHING on these people. The SHALLOW, VANITY OBSESSED, MATERIALISTIC nature of this group is absolutely APPALLING! The only one with any depth of character is Asa and the rest of her so called "friends" should stop making fun of her style behind her back and take some lessons from her on being a decent human being. What truly confuses me is that NONE of them is even remotely attractive! Especially GG!!! The one who doesn't like ugly people...really?! Smells like a low self esteem to me because you're not pretty at all! There is NOTHING more UNNATRACTIVE than a MEAN, ghetto talking, spoiled brat! Not a good look. Mike had some physical potential until he opened his mouth. What kills me is that they could've taken the chance for a show to bring awareness to the atrocities that caused their families to come here and the present day issues. Instead they make a VERY POOR respresentation of their culture and I think they should be ASHAMED of themselves and their characters. I have several Persian friends from LA and the people on this show are NOTHING like the beautifully spiritual people I know. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU for being such morally. spiritually, and intellectually corrupt individuals that you are. All of you are WAY TOOO OLD to be SOOO UNAWARE! Do yourselves a favor and volunteer some of your wasted time to help others and GET A CLUE about what life is REALLY about.

Does anyone who is familiar with Persians know if Persian Jews are culturally similar, or are they viewed as having separate cultural stereotypes? (Just curious because I recently met someone who identifies as a Persian Jew).

I'm sorry, but I think this new show is no different that some of the other reality shows. I love to watch the real housewives, but by no means do I think they are representative of the majority of housewives in this country. I have several Persian friends and I know they are nothing like the bravo show. I'm still going to enjoy watching!

I don't have cable, but I saw enough clips on Bravo. I do thinks he is pretty, but they show old photos and she no doubt had a nose job at least. So basically she hates people cannot afford to change their looks.

Culturally Persian Jess are probably more similar to Persian Muslims, but in so many countries Jews aren't allowed in so they will always be Jews first.

My spouse is iranian and I can tell you that LA iranians have a lot of wealth and the show does depict the reality of iranian life and culture there. They are generally materialistic. Lots of iranian women admire blond hair so they color their hair blonde (at least the affluent ones do). Many are uncomfortable if they have the typical iranian nose and get nose jobs. They are not religious per se but more attached to their culture.

And I should add that there is no such thing as being "Persian." The Persian empire hasn't existed for eons. Would it be appropriate for anyone to go around saying they were "Roman" or "Mesopotamian"? These civilizations haven't existed for centuries. These people are Iranians. Persia was once Iraq and Iran combined. Iraq and Iran, however, are now distinct cultures with separate ethnicities and language. One group is arab, the other is not. I think they like to call themselves Persian because the U.S. has not had good relations with Iran in many, many years and they fear discrimination.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Several people on the show have huge ego's and consider themselves great looking but none are even attractive. GG is average looking yet she said she can't stand ugly people. I hope she was talking about ugly on the inside because if she was referring to ugly on the outside it's bizarre. She has an inflated ego I suppose. I'm not saying this to simply hit back at her or the others because they have huge ego's. I honestly am not understanding why they think they are so attractive.

Yeah, I'm a Persian Jew. We're just Persians who follow Judaism.

Oh and to the guy saying "hurrr durrrr it's Iranians now not Persians", you're wrong. Persians are an ethnicity, just like Scots are.
