Perhaps you should know Liz Coleson has an amazing connection with children and has a much more gentle technique than the ISR, my children used to be in IRS and we spent a fortune doing lessons thru ISR, only to have them scared to be on their backs. In 8 lessons with Liz my 2 & 3yr old children were swimming, after 12 lessons I can't get them out of the pool. My children LOVE her she is fun and captures their attention with water games and challenges. I wouldn't dream of depriving my children from the joy of swimming. :thumb up: |
NP but bumping |
How much does she charge for private lesson? |
| Another bump seeking MoCo swim instructor recommendations... |
Her teaching technique is more subtile than the ISR way, children do not go thru the mental stress, since lessons are 30 min each week not 10 min a day everyday. ISR works on certain children and traumatizes others. my children did ISR for 2 yrs. and hated to go on their backs. After we stopped, I found Liz and they lover her. They can't wait for their swim class each week and are now swimming like fish. ' '

| For MoCo, try Tollefson Swimming at G Prep. worked for my little guy who couldn't swim early on due to ear issues, now he is on the local swim team. Also, have heard good things about Ann's Aquatics. |
| The county classes are quite good for intro instructions. |
| Thank you for comments about Liz Coleson. We just signed my daughters up for lessons with Liz and they love her. After 3 lessons, my two year old has connected and my 4 yr old who cries at the sight of a swimming pool has learned how to float on her back in the 3 lessons. Liz has a very calming effect on children, other swim instructors are yelling from the deck, and my children who are very anxious have calmed down immensely. This is the first instructor that my children talk about all the time and there are no more tears in the car on the way to swim lesson. |

We live in Arlington county, my daughter’s elementary class goes for swimming week with her class. Last year she was in 3rd grade and was mortified and was in tears when she had to prove she could not swim well enough to go into the deep end in front of her classmates. This year I signed her up for 8 lessons with Liz Coleson before her 4th grade swim week and Liz was able to teach her freestyle, backstroke, and treading water working with her in the shallow water building her confidence and then swimming across the deep end as well as jumping into the deep end. We are so pleased with the results and my daughter can’t stop smiling about how proud she is with her own swimming. contact Liz at lizardmac1@earthlink.net
Your child will thank you! |
| I have been very disappointed in the instructors thru Arlington county parks and recreation. My son had 3 different private instructors and still he was terrified of the water. I found Liz online and she was able to teach my son to swim like a fish in 16 lessons. Now has loves the pool and has jumped off the diving board. The best thing I ever did for his confidence level was to get him lessons from Liz. His personality has completely changed. He is now more outgoing and makes friends easily after he learned to swim. Best investment I ever made for my son. |
| My child was taking beginner group class through Arlington county parks & rec. The class moves very slowly and she go bored after 4 classes. They had no room to move her to a higher level so we ended up dropping the class switching to private lessons with Liz Coleson who is known as the Swim Whisperer. Liz taught my child to swim across the big pool and tread water. She went from the beginning level to level 4 in 10 private lessons with Liz. What a difference. incidently she is one of the only independent instructors who is still teaches at the Yorktown & Washington-Lee HS pools in Arlington. |
