Do you have a urinal in your house?

Follow my logic- if urine touches something without being washed away, you will have the smell of concentrated drying urine in the bathroom.

To be honest, I don't see how avoiding the problem trumps them actually learning bathroom etiquette.

Enjoy your urinal but please also teach them how to conduct themselves in other peoples restrooms. This includes your husband.

I use the "this is the bathroom, these are the clorox wipes and this is the toilet paper and this is what they are for" approach. They are all old enough to learn etiquette with potty training. Yes I have boys.

My husband has said "you are not put on this earth to clean up after any man, including your sons and especially your husband" when they can do it themselves. Just a though

I agree.
We have boys and DH does the toilet cleaning in our house.

In my housholds, all males have learned to sit down on the potty to urinate. No spills whatsoever.

I have two boys and a DH and never, ever would put a urinal in my home.

Let them clean up their mess a few times and they will be more careful and be sure to aim.

This was a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode.

I'm a guy and I do it this way at night, as it is hard to aim then.. .

This is quite common in Germany.

If you're having trouble with aiming, put one of those fly decals:

I never knew this wasn't the norm - both my dad and brother sat down when I was growing up. And DH does it in our house, too. I plan on letting DH teach DS to do the same. Standing up in a home is disgusting - splatters, mess!!!!! Why encourage it and get a urinal???

So does my DH. I always thought it was weird though, guess not.
