DS 99 percentile wipsii too, W/L K. Reading this thread makes me feel so much better. I am wondering if this has something to do with the fact we applied for financial aid.

DS was admitted in a non-expansion year. They initially admitted four kids, but took four more off the waitlist as several families had unexpected moves because of jobs. So yes, they do take from the WL in nonexpansion years.

Just got our K W/L letter for DD. sigh.

I am not really surprised, though a little bit sad. After reading most of the posts from this forum, I realized we didn't put all of our effort in the process-our parental statement and other supplemental materials were sent in the last minute, we only applied for one school, and we didn't spend hours editing our statement.

So I know my DS did fine. We didn't prep him for the play date, nor for the IQ test. We just let him be. If it is meant to be, it will be. We will respond to the W/L post card.

The letter from Sidwell mentioned DD is fully qualified for their Pre-K but there was not enough spots for everyone and said to call admissions office around April 2nd to find out if there will be openings.

PP, my DC had same scores and was outright rejected at Sidwell for Pre-K some years ago. I'd say you have a shot. Write a 1st choice letter and call on the 2nd just like it offers.

Doubt it ,PP. I am sure your DC is great and if you need FA and those are DC's cores, taht should be compelling to Sidwell. Unfortunately, they take what 20 spots and have 2000 applications. The POTUS, cabinet level staff, WOPA, CNN kids have to go somewhere, and they take all the spots. If you are WL, you still have a shot. hang in.

count your blessings and go to a school that wanted your child! many schools in the area focus on choosing children based on personality and other attributes besides test scores, Sidwell is not there... your child is a number to them!

Any movement? sigh.....

Sidwell does not admit based on test scores. They admit based on parent profile, provided test scores are also VG, imho.

Hogwash! DH and I do not have high profile positions nor do we have abbreviated letters after our names. We also applied for and received some financial aid. DC is multi-talented. It's called a hook.
