I am from mid-Atlantic. Grew up in a Republican house. Had to go to church every Sunday. My parents did not go to college but my Dad did well in his business ventures.

DH is from Boston. Grew up with atheist parents. His Mom's background is Jewish, Dad's is Quaker. They are highly educated (degrees from Ivies) and are the definition of academic, elitist, liberals.

We are both bleeding heart liberals.

I am pro-choice, protestant, originally from the south, moderate Independent. There are a lot of pseudo-liberals on DCUM, pro illegal immigrants (I am anti-illegal immigrants and see no reason for any kind of amnesty for people who broke US laws to enter country and I do give a damn if they were foolish to have children and will be separated from them), but do not want to pay decent wages to anyone who is a domestic employee; think they are the center of the universe (I learned growing up that I wasn't even close); many seem totally incapable of cleaning up after themselves and live in filth (don't have time to clean but have hours to spend on DCUM); hate anyone from the south and blame all the ills of racism on southerners; and, I am going to be flamed. Go ahead, I'm asbestos.
