would you give your master bedroom up to your inlaws for a night?

My in-laws give their room for guests.
Ick, yuck. I don't want to sleep in a homeowner 's bed. It's bad enough to sleep in a guest bed, but at least that's not occupied regularly.

I would have but my husband said "hell no". Since then we try to make them comfortable in our daughter's room.

OP again. They are coming over to watch the SuperBowl. No babysitting involved. The foam mattress is fine - used to be our bed until we got the king size mattress.

They are old. It probably hurts their backs. You don't know what that is like until you are there. I don't see how someone sleeping in your bed for a night is so terrible. If it bothers you so much, get another mattress for them. Ikea has them for a few hundred bucks, and it will be there before the Superbowl. If you aren't willing to spend that money, AND you can't let them use your bed, you are being petty.

You must be a million laughs at a hotel.

Are you getting free babysitting? Also, maybe they have a bad back and sleeping of a foam mattress would be painful. Why did you ever buy a foam mattress?

Why is this a problem?

Go have sex some other night if that's your issue.

ridiculous

Of course, if I had a foam mattress for them to sleep in. It's what you should do, frankly. My parents are 70 years old. If I wanted them to come hang out and watch the SuperBowl and stay the night, I would offer the comfy king size bed. What's the big deal to you and it's a gracious, no harm-no foul offer.

In this case, NO. The only way I would do it would be if they were at our house to do us a favor, like babysit our kids. In that case, I would. Otherwise, no way.

We do, because the master provides easier access to the bathroom. But it's only happened twice.

Not sure why your ILs can't just drive home.

Yes (although it would be DH's inlaws since they are the ones that live close). But also, we have no guest room, and if they stayed over, it would be for a very good reason, like someone was ill and they couldn't drive home or their house had no power. The most important thing though is that it is the LEAST we could do for them after all they do for us. I suspect that OP's situation with the in-laws is a little different, and that's where the hesitation comes from.

I would. If they would also get up in the middle of the night and early in the morning with the kids. But since they don't, they're happy to stay in the basement (on an air mattress they picked).

Are they sleeping there because one or both will be drinking?

OP again. When I say foam, I mean a Temperpedic...is foam not the right way to describe it?
