I hate to break it to you, but as far as winters go this is as good as it gets.
I recommend you bank a bunch of indoor activities for bad days. Also, sign up for an extra activity during these months. Gymnastics is a good option. YMCA Arlington Gymnastics and Arlington Parks/Rec are great. I don't know about the other jurisdictions. Also consider swimming or any other indoor activity that wears them out. Maybe gymboree or Little gym? Last, get to know the indoor play options. Arlington has Barcroft, for example, but even some museums have a lot of open space to burn energy. |

OP, I feel the same way this time of the year. I have to drink coffee to get going, which normally I don't. I feel lazy and I'm not a lazy person. I hate the feeling of being cooped up.
Today I forced myself to take a 15 minute power walk with the kids. I just sucked it up and the fresh air helped. Then I taped newspaper to the floor and let the kids finger/body paint. It was really fun and put a smile on everyone's faces. I guess what I'm trying to get at is I have to force myself out of that SAD type feeling because once I let it get to me and I don't push to do something about it it takes over. |

Why do people have a problem staying at home? Is there some sort of rule I missed that states you must leave the house every day? Why pay so much for your "perfect house" if you have a problem being there?
Make the kid play with their toys. Play a game. Clean your nasty fridge. Fix something instead of waiting for your hubby to. Teach the kid something. Write a letter. Watch a DVD. Read a book. |
ITA, I think some people are incapable of staying home and entertaining themselves. |
