My salary as a part time teacher is $33K/year.
I work 192 days x 3 hours each day = 576 hours/year. I bring almost no work home. $33,000/576 = $57/hour |
| About $9.50/hr. Completely underemployed even though I have worked hard to earn my Master's plus more. |
|
$60/hour.
Hey, I should get more...!
|
| PP, why do you think you should get more? |
|
I have a question about computing your true hourly rate.
Shouldn't you really include commuting time as you add up actual working hours? That's assuming that you commute solely for the purpose of empoyment and aren't just driving around because you enjoy driving. |
No. |
I think John Stossel did a report about how teachers are actually paid very well, more than many lawyers, per hour. When he confronted some of them they got really mad because I think they wanted a raise. |
|
I'm the teacher who posted -- I think I earn a fine hourly rate.
However, as I said, I do not need to bring work home to meet professional expectations at work. Many teachers do need to work an extra 2 hours or more each day, which would bring their hourly rate down considerably. |
| Probably about $300/hour. Charge $600/hour but have to work about 1 hour for every charged hour. And I have some expenses. |
| $150 per hour, interior designer |
How many hours a week do you work? |
Anywhere from 15-25 billable and 30-60 total. Of course if I don't work I don't get paid. |
| About $150 per hour, PhD economist. |
I doubt that. John Stossel is hardly a reliable source of anything. |
