The EPA creates jobs, you idiot. It takes people to implement the regulations. I wouldn't mind getting rid of the EPA if we can channel the all the pollution to your living room and the rest of us can have clean air and clean water. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. |

We need to create more jobs by paying people to hunt down and harass employees of the government. The EPA...is out of control and being used as an anti-american blunt force weapon against economic freedom. Since communism was discredited it's followers have flocked to the environmental movement and mcpherson square. |

When "economic freedom" requires payment in full for the damage to the environment, we can get rid of EPA. Even the most conservative economists in the world, including Milton Friedman himself, understand that pollution is an externality, and it must be regulated. |

yes, the EPA plays an important role since otherwise the businesses would pollute and get to enjoy the lower cost from doing so while all the rest of us pay the costs in terms of lower health and clean-up costs. That said, I think some of the nutty decisions related to the Endangered Species Act are what get a lot of focus re: EPA actions and seem out of touch to most people. |

By their arch enemy, actually, unless Wiki is wrong: "The EPA was proposed by President Richard Nixon and began operation on December 2, 1970," which was a time when boomers were in their early twenties and unlikely to have had the power to create government agencies. But by today's standards, Nixon was a flaming liberal freak, right? |

Did all you anonymous suckers notice that The Man edited that last remark? I get to edit mine also, at least when I remember to sign on, because I'm also a man with a user name. But all you anonymous suckers get stuck having any dumb mistake enshrined in history (even if we don't know who made that silly goof). So get yourselves some user names and you too will be able to edit yourselves to perfection!
