John 3:16, 316 passing yards?

I don't hate Tebow. I don't hate his religion. If it's a positive thing in his life, more power to him.

What I do hate is nonsense like, "WHOA! Tebow had 316 passing yards! JESUS IS SPEAKING THROUGH TIM TEBOW!"

The Lord doesn't care about your football playoffs, y'all.

+1

More power to him if he actually lives the lifestyle he claims to and all that. And there is nothing wrong with having a positive influence for kids. But he's not the second coming, folks - the zealots need to calm down.

Tim Tebow is a lunatic.

No one here seems to understand why these little numerical coincidences are exciting.

Millions upon millions of people Googled John 3:16 after the game. Tebow brought the message of that verse to millions of people because he lives his faith. That's God's grace at work. "Preach the gospel at all times. When necessary, use words."

Grace is always at work in our lives. Sometimes we notice, and sometimes we don't. When we are in a bad way, the grace feels and looks repulsive, like when an unrepentant alcoholic is faced with an intervention and lashes out at everyone there--"it's you, not me!"

Sally Jenkins, at the Post, had an interesting take on why Tebow upsets people so much:

"When Tebow kneels on the field, his religion becomes challengingly present. Tebow doesn’t have to get into a bunch of Jesus Talk to put you or me in an uncomfortable state of mind. It’s more subtle than that. Murray suggests, if I have a reaction to the Knee, it’s because Tebow implies “that there is something in the universe over and above the natural which deserves my attention, allegiance, or honor and I find that distasteful or irritating.”"

And yet, he does. All the time. And that's what's so annoying. I have no problem with the knee, or his faith - but I don't want to hear about it. Every time he wins, or even does something positive.

I'm a Steelers fan and grew up in a crazy Steeler-loving household in crazy Steeler-loving Pittsburgh. And I don't deny Tebow an ounce of his victory. If he believes in a being higher than himself then I applaud that. You don't see many star athletes giving praise to anyone other than themselves.
From here out this season, I'll be rooting for the Broncos.

How come none of you are complaining that he is building a hospital or has spent most of his time off the field helping orphans?

How come none of you said something about the players that say god bless during interviews or huddle at the middle of the field after a game to pray? or complain about it when an actor or musician says first of all I want to thank ......

He is nto to blame, he isn;t asking to be put on TV, he just does what he does and doesn't ask to be a role model

As Tim Tebow said, football is not important to him, it is a vehicle for him to reach his goal of prividing for people who need help, if he didn't have football, he would be successful helping poeple, he just doesn't let the negative people drag him down

Let's see other role models
Tom Brady kid out of wedlock
Michael Vick-dog killer
Tiger Woods womenizer
Lebron James multiple kids out of wedlock
Roger Clemmens drugs violence
Michael Jordan womenizer gambler

FWIW, my understanding is that Tom Brady has done the best he could with the situation of his first child. Bridget got pregnant pretty much their last time together. Stuff happens. And while I'm not a fan of Lebron, hasn't he been with the mother of his children forever? And they are getting married soon, correct?

People have sex out of wedlock - Sometimes, kids result from it. It just shows they are human. As long as they aren't out there knocking up multiple women, I won't fault them for those things.

I'm not saying people should emulate them having kids out of wedlock, but I'm less willing to condemn these 2 for the listed "offenses" than the others.

Ravens own the Steelers, by the way.

Yes, their streak runs for 2 games in a row.

Go Tebow! Keep spreading the good news.

Yet, I think you miss the point.

What does it mean when he loses, or has a bad game?

Then he's no worse than any other athlete or celebrity. But he still does good and charitable works off the field, which is a lot better that what most do with their time and money.

Oh, that doesn't matter. Fundies know that God only rewards them for being terrific, so when something bad happens, it's nothing to do with them. You know, how 9/11 was the fault of feminists and abortionists, and not the result of the hateful end of the Christian spectrum jamming their particular brand down America's throats.

I don't like Tim Tebow for his insistent witnessing on the field. Good grief.
