The entire series is $30 on the PBS website ... I'm tempted to buy it, rather than waiting week to week for PBS to run it on their website ...

This is so ironic I have to laugh. I have an antenna and digital converter box, pay $0 for tv, and it's coming in crystal clear on my old set. On the other hand, I have a fraction of the channels you have. But that's okay, b/c I'm a tv snob anyway.

PP here -- you are too quick to laugh, or at least jump to assumptions. Antenna here, too. But if you want to feel superior, go right ahead ...

Why did Cora and Robert try so hard to get Thomas stationed at the nearby hospital? They were about to fire him last seasonf or being a thief and generally a troublemaker... but then he volunteered for the medical service so they didn't have to give him notice. So why the attempt to pull strings and put pressure on the doctor to intervene?

He was one of their own who went off to war and was wounded doing his duty.

I mised the first half hour. Who the heck is Ms Swire and where ever did Matthew dig her up?

I wonder if they will show the Christmas special over here...

For those of you who have Amazon Prime membership - you can watch it all on Amazon w/o any ads, all of it comes with your membership.

Boo hoo, same here. We don't have cable. It's available streaming from Amazon, FYI.

OMG, thank you!

Yep, that's what he was doing. Three on a match, or one with a real sense of determination.

It's on PBS. There are no ads!

Pure bliss. Like Hank Stuever said said in his Post review (unfairly negative in my opinion), you could watch it with the sound off or them saying gibberish, and it's so gorgeous (well, except for in the trenches) it doesn't matter.

PP, ch 26 (WETA). I also love Elizabeth McGovern; have loved her since Ordinary People (wow, I'm old).

+1. In fact, I'm so old that I missed seeing it last night b/c DH and I had to do our yearbook ad for DS graduating from HS. As late boomers, our tech skills are so lame that it took us 3 hours to download two pix and type "congratulations, snookums" in the right box. Hey, is anyone else bummed that the Turkish ambassador's son got killed off so early last season. Shouldn't he and Mary have had a torrid affair before she met Matthew? The one-night stand was just so shabby.

Does amazon prime have season 2? i can only find season 1, not the new one. Am I missing it?
Anonymous
They do have Season 2, and it's $1.99 per episode.

I agree that the Turkish ambassador's attache (I think that's who it was) should have been around longer...he was really cute and they had a lot of chemistry!

they will have to show the Christmas special because it's integral to the plot. It's not a standalone. Already seen the whole season. It's every bit as great as you hope it is.
