Pushing back on too much homework?

No homework on Fridays or over vacations. Exceptions are in the upper grades honors classes. It was a compromise that we could live with.

I am so envious of those that practice peaceful resistance. The oldest child, rules follower in me would never consider that!! Does anyone's school reduce your child's grades for not completing homework assignments?

In the early years even if the grades are lower b/c of homework, that is no big deal if that is the only reason. By grade 5 and 6 I would start to worry a bit since that is when placements for classes in Middle School matter.

Can the poster whose private school doesn't start homework until 3rd grade name the school? I'l love to take a tour. I have homework!

i'm the prior poster. it is green acres. take a look. i didn't know much about the school prior to last fall, but i liked it more and more with each visit. it just seemed a perfect fit for my little boy. it was our first choice, and we'll be starting there in the fall. their homework philosophy was not a major factor for me, but i certainly think it's an enlightened view.
