I found my engagement ring on the outside of my car windshield! I must have dropped it when I was clearing ice off my windshield -- a tiny chunk of snow kept the ring from falling out of the groove. I found it after tearing my house inside out.
I know your ring will turn up! Keep looking! BTW, insurance usually caps jewelry losses at 1K or so, unless you bought a special rider. I'd wait to file though, give it a month or so, you wouldn't want to end up with higher premiums if you end up finding your ring. |

Have you looked on top of your cabinets? On top of the fridge? If it was thrown just right when you picked up the dishtowel, it could have gotten some air. I think if I were you, I would turn out the lights and peak around with a flashlight to see if anything catches the light.
Good luck! |
| Sadly, I also lost my engagement ring while swimming at an indoor pool. Didn't realize it until days later, returned, and they said they didn't find anything. Yeah right! We never had it insured. Good luck. Atleast you lost yours at home. Double check the trash. That would be my biggest fear, but I think yours is in your kitchen somewhere. |
Yes, doubly surprised. Props for doing the right thing. |
| OP, just when almost all hope was gone, I found my wedding band inside my boot in my walk-in closet. |

Lost my wedding ring the exact same way, OP. We never found it. I mean where could it have gone? We even tore apart a recliner thinking it might have wandered over there.
I recently heard a story of a woman who lost her wedding ring in a similar way. Many years later (like 20?) someone pulled up a carrot from their garden and there it was on the carrot. Apparently, if you believe the story, the ring was composted which was used for their garden. |
| Thanks for all of your nice comments and encouragement. Still no ring...we have an insurance rider for jewelry, so it will cover the ring, but I am determined to give it some more time. Am having someone come over to pull out the dishwasher this week, as we could only see so far with pulling off the bottom panel. There is a space next to the dishwasher under the kitchen sink that it may have rolled into. I'm willing to hang on to any hope right now...I know it could be worse, but so sad! |
| Best of luck to you, OP. Another thought--have you checked your stove "eyes" (unless they're smooth)? |
| Do you have a cleaning lady? If so, wait until after she comes - ours is always finding stuff that I would have thought was gone for good (& dozens of legos, cheerios, puzzle pieces, etc) |
