Yes, we've been doing serious probiotics. Unfortunately he can't tolerate dairy anymore, even yogurt, so we've been doing the powder or chewable pill form.

We had read that an infection can trigger Crohns and IBS and other nasties...that the infection (or maybe the treatment) triggers the immune systems to be hypersensitive and...wham. But honestly, I don't know! We are hoping that given lots of time and probiotics his gut will heal.

If it is indeed IBS, I highly recommend the website helpforibs.com

IBS is tricky in that what causes flares for one person is different than what causes them for another person, and there are times I can eat certain foods and times those same foods will cause me to be very ill. The above website has a list of 'what to eat when you can't eat anything', which lists foods which will not cause problems for many IBS patients, and lots of helpful information.

Supplement PP here. You might want to consider Water Kefir as your method of giving probiotics. You buy the Kefir grains once, and you "feed" them daily. And you drain the fermented Kefir water which is filled with not billions, but trillions of probiotics. If you do a quick search on Water Kefir, you'll find all the information you need.

Supp pp here again.....it will take more than probiotics to heal the gut. Enzymes, at the least, are a MUST.
