I'm kind of dismayed that I don't like fast food anymore

I know what you mean. My stomach has turned against most fast food, and sadly I get very cranky when hungry, so I do hate when Im trying to get things done and get hungry. I tend to veture towards things like soft preztels or do salads at fast food when needed.

I agree there's good fast food and bad fast food.

Stick to Five Guys, ChickfilA, and the like.

I'd like me some Mickey Ds now please.

I know how you feel, OP.

I am very sad that shitty McDonald's food now disgusts me, and even Chick-Fil-A isn't so good to me any more.

I'm the same way, OP! My stomach doesn't love it anymore. I used to crave McD's fries or Taco Bell, and I really don't anymore.

I think one of the PPs is right. I'd bet the quality of the food has gone down - more filler, less actual meat.

I've actually noticed that with M & Ms. I used to eat M & Ms constantly. I hadn't had them in a while, and when I picked up a bag recently as a treat, they were SO disappointing. It seemed like it was less chocolate center, and more cheap candy coating.

I can't handle fast food any more either. When we're traveling and there's nothing like Subway or Quizno's, I'll eat whatever they have and then feel sick half the day. 15 years ago, I ate fast food several times a week and actually enjoyed it. Now, if I'm going to eat something that's bad for me, it damn sure better be delicious, high quality food than junk Mickey D's.

Me too. It's not convenient at all! I end up packing snacks for myself while on the go (when I have the time and when I'm planning ahead, at least...).

I was in the G'town Safeway and was starting to get "hangry" (hungry/angry) so I got a slice of pizza from their prepared food area. Combo with a fountain coke $2.99. It was gross. Hours later, I finished up toy shopping at Sullivan's and my stomach was growling again so I said to myself, "Well, McD's is right down the street and I haven't been there in ages. I'll get a Fishmac." (I used to love those). Well, that meal was gross too. Greasy fries, I guess the sandwich was palatable, mediocre hot chocolate. Totally unsatisfying food due to my bad choices. But my question is, what have I done to myself? I'm not a food snob or vegetarian, and am middle income, but frankly I do most of my food shopping at Whole Foods and prepare most meals at home. But I can't take pleasure in cheap food anymore? At the same time I wonder how people can eat like this regularly... are they satisfied? I'm eating an apple right now and it is good. I'm vacillating between feeling good that I like high quality food and being disgusted with myself at how snobbish and picky I'm being. Thoughts?

this "fishmac"
Is it new?

this. I don't think you are a snob OP, just old. it's okay, I am too. food doesn't taste the same.

OP, I can relate to your situation. I think after your body gets used to nutritious and good quality foods you lose the taste for all that junk. It happened to me also. When I eat fast food it just sits in my stomach...ugh

I think that if you eat better you actualy taste the food, and if you taste what's in Mcdonalds, well, it's gross. I don't know about the "fishmac," but a quarter pounder with cheese tastes like salty sweet, vaguely meatish to me. I can handle the occasional cheeseburger (like once every other year), largely because the bread, cheese and pickles overpower the "meat."

I live in California and mostly agree except in n out still hits the spot.

Its gone down in quality and whole foods taste better once you've had them for awhile. I'm still in my 20s and used to eat fast food everyday. Now, I can only eat at McDonald's for breakfast, Five Guys, Chik Fila, and Chipotle. And these are seldom (once a month). Burger King, Taco Bell, and the like are gross.

I'm working class by DCUM standards and feel the same way, OP.

Elevation Burger...oh yeah. I had a meal there this weekend that was sublime. Or maybe I was just really hungry. I can't enjoy McDs anymore. Can't eat at Chick Fil A b/c of their kooky Christian music, Washington Times, and right-wing politics.
