Some of the songs posters are mentioning aren't "carols" per se. They are popular standards. But whatever.
I love Silent Night and and O Holy Night. Don't like Good King Wenceslas. I love Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra singing just about any Christmas song. Also love Burl Ives Xmas album b/c it reminds me of my childhood. Hate that cheesy song Grandma got run over by a Reindeer. |

I know! I'm the same way! A couple years ago, I was miscarrying right before Christmas, and my other little ones were in a pageant, and when they sang that song...oh, it just got to me so deeply. Always does, now. |

Oh, don't make this into something it's not. Frank Loesser was awesome, and he and his wife considered this "their song." No date rape about it. Different time, different standards. It's a wonderful song about two people who want to stay together late into the night, but the social norms of the time won't let them. Like the horror of "Wake up Little Suzy" when they both fell asleep in a movie theater. The horror. |
