How does naming work? Help me decide

When you have all sorts of variations on the name you use, each one of those could possibly line up with the name of a known terrorist... and you get to have a long conversation with the Customs officials everytime you enter or leave the country. I used to be a terrorist targetter.... please do your children the favor of having/using ONE legal name (and one birthday --- many people from the middle east have multiple birthdays believe it or not... and multiple places of birth too!).

OP here and thanks for the info.

We don't intend to have several different names for DC2 that's why I want one option that will satisfy both of our requisites. Later on, if DC2 is not happy with our choice DC2 can always go through the legal system to have it changed.

If your children have different names on different passports, you are much more likely to have trouble travelling in and out of the country. (I'm the PP).

Try to simplify. Even in this country, people may have different names for their "baptismal names" or "confirmation names" or "Jewish name." But, then we have our real, legal name that we use for all legal documents. Less is more. If you must, how about giving the child "initials" representing the different names you want to capture (i.e. Jose A. F. Montillo) without using the full spelling of the word.
