Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
| I'm the original responder with the super-cute yellow legal pad paper, and everyone knows what I'm doing. My office is very friendly to pumping moms. The sign is purely to warn people away, and it's always respected. But, in general, I agree that cutesy signs about pumping don't belong in an office. Pumping is part of my work life, meaning I want to be pretty direct and no-nonsense about it. That said, if I felt like I had to make extra clear that no one should enter, I'd take the PP's approach of "please don't come in or we'll both be embarassed." |

When I was pumping, I hated it and found it very stressful when someone knocked on the door. The do not disturb sign was a way to stop the knocking.

| Why don't you get a sign that says, "Moooooooooooo" |
OP here--jeez, seriously people, so much snark! I am not a "cutesy" type of person at all. I don't even plan on having baby pictures displayed on my desk! But my office is tiny, people do try and walk in sometimes even if the door is closed (sometimes while knocking), and I think since people will know I am pumping in general its a nice way of showing "look i will be in here about 20 minutes and then you can come bother me" as opposed to on a conference call, not in the office, having an affair with the Deer Park water guy, whatever. And it will look less ratty than a piece of paper taped to the door.

| OP again. And I guess by "cute" I didn't mean ruffles and balloons, just something less scary than a sign that would be hung across your scary neighbor's chain link fence. But whatevs. |
| I just printed out a sign that said, "Pumping in progress--do not disturb." Lamination would stop it from getting ratty. |
| P.S. I work in a small, informal office. |

I did the same as 14:36. Otherwise, people would knock and walk in. I had someone actually walk in on me once and it was so embarrassing. Fortunately, where I was sitting was not in view of the door so I was able to say something before she walked in.
About the snarkiness, I seriously don't get it. I thought with Amy gone things would get better, and they did for a while. But it seems like some new and incredibly annoying women have joined to take her place making this board worse than ever for the snarky comments. Don't get why people can't just respond to an OP's question or just leave it alone. |
Maybe Amy opened the door to the snarkiness. |
