s/o Why no vitriol for actors, pro athletes, and CEOs?

Most people hate the litigious society in which we live. Many feel lawyers are parasites preying on the desperate. There is the negative image of defense attorneys representing vile humans... oJ, Casey, Sandusky. Many don't see the defense attn that different from the crook they are defending. People hate how lawyers have driven up the cost of insurance, particularly doctor malpractice. The billing per hour or for a photo copy is ridiculous. It is an over-saturated profession with many not so bright people taking advantage of others. I work in a field with scientists that hire some of these idiots and I wish I could tell them they'd be better off on their own. You can get a third rate communications, history, poly sci, psych degree and get a law degree with no problem. It is not a very prestigious degree anymore.
Pro athletes are overpaid for sure, but they are impressive, genetic freaks of nature. Only a very small percent of people are able to attain that level and no matter how much you practice there is a genetic factor. Lawyers are a dirty dime a dozen with chips on their shoulders. |
