Maybe Fordham in NYC, or Emerson in Boston, or Temple?

If she is open to the idea of a women's college, Barnard or Wellesley might be a bit of a stretch, but sometimes women's colleges are forced to have more flexibility on SATs since they are pulling from a smaller pool of applicants.

Our DD is dying to go to school in NY ("or somewhere warm"). Anyway, a few have suggested Fordham. Anyone have any insight into the school?

Southwestern University - lovely small liberal arts school, outside of Austin, with thriving Fine Arts program (and good science and business programs should she swing that way eventually). Only loosely affiliated with Methodist church.

Fordham is Catholic (Jesuit), so shouldn't that not work according to your first post?

What about Barnard - expensive - but it's in NY?

I went to Cornell after growing up here and had a relative who taught at Ithaca and made friends with some kids who went there and liked it. My extended family is from New York so it didn't feel too far away with them nearby, but otherwise is a bit of a drive. Most people do truly love both of these schools and I still love going back to Ithaca, but it is cold into late spring and if you aren't going to work in New England or New York I would think a school a little further south would be better. It took me some time to find connections back in the DC area for work.

On second thought, all the people I know who still live up in New York have large mansions which they paid practically out of pocket for about $200,000 while I own a smaller 1 car garage home for about $600,000 and won't pay off my mortgage for many years. So if you can find work in a smaller town it may not be a bad thing to go to a school further away from here.

She wants to go to school near/in an urban area.
She is undecided about a major, but would like to minor in theater (stage and sound design).
The schools she is interested in so far:
UMBC, UMCP, Ithaca College, MaryMount Manhattan, and Boston University.

She is a senior and we are running out of time!

Please any suggestions and feedback about the above schools would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. She will not consider any school that is affiliated with the Catholic Church!

Overpriced and overrated.

But the SAT has added a 600 point writing section. So sometimes you see a score and it's not clear if the score is out of 1600 or 2400. Here, OP's DD has a 1900 so it must be out of a possible 2400 (and is roughly equivalent to the ACT score of 27 that OP reported). My DS is a college freshman with similar scores and I can tell you they will not get you into any top colleges (CMU, Duke, Hopkins, Columbia, Rice etc).

I'd look into the colleges that do not require standardized test scores or at least have a more holistic approach to reading applications. Because the grades and rank are so strong (and much higher than her standardizes scores seem to indicate) I think she could do well with one of those. [/quote

Either you are brilliantly funny or not very bright.

Seriously OP go to college confidential and post there under college search. The information here is pretty useless. Good luck.

Another vote for Emerson in Boston.
