Pretty obvious that mom had something to do with this kid's disappearance. I guess it's nice that her story was that she left him in the car, rather than that a "black guy" kidnapped him.

I think the PP was making a reference to Susan Smith. She killed her children and went to the police and media to blame their disappearance on an unknown black man.

The first thing I though when I read the title was "of course! i do it all the time".... I thought it was referring to when you are at the gas station and have to go inside to pay or something like that. No, I would leave my child alone in the car to go get gas - I would put her in the stroller or should would walk with me if I didn't have the stroller. However, if I was in one of those VERY RARE situation when someone is stranded in the middle of nowhere and the car was stuck in snow, maybe I would leave my child in the car if I thought it was safer and warmer while I went to get help. Not sure though.
