| Wootten school district parent here (DC goes to MD day care, but we would consider day care in DC or VA; there are a number of factors involved in this decision). What you're talking about is a private day care. Since when does where you live have anything to do with who can, or should, attend? Maybe people work nearby, or it's on their way to work. People move to Maryland for the excellent public schools, but seeing as those don't start until Kindergarten, they'll consider all options for day care. Likewise, you can consider a day care in surburban MD; no one is stopping you! |
| We looked at several of what this board would consider the "top" preschools. None of them exceeded $20K a year. I have been assuming OP meant $25K over two or three years of tuition? Even if our preschool ran 12 months a year and was more expensive accordingly, it still wouldn't get into that range, and I think ours is one of the more expensive ones. |
| Yeah, I don't get your question either. Public schools don't start until kindergarten. Why does it matter where a kid lives for preschool? |
yeah really Is there a significant difference btw. the DC children and those from Maryland? Are the MD kids obnoxious? entitled? obese? rude? not as smart? Is it the accent? OP - are you prejudice against Marylanders? If so, don't involve the children. After all, they didn't ask to be born. |

| There have been several posts in the past from DC parents angry that MD and VA kids are applying to DC privates. Seem to think the spaces should be for their kids (sour grapes about not getting in?). I wonder if this is the same type of thing. |

As someone who just relocated with a 2 year old I'd like to know what are the top preschools in DC? And if you can't share the top ones what are some good ones (and how can I find/access this information going forward)?
Thanks! |
I wonder also. Last time I checked it was a FREE WORLD. OP, preschools are not public. You are not ZONED for one. People can send their children wherever they want. You don't like it then MOVE. We are not taking spaces away from you. These PRIVATES can accept anyone they want. sometimes I wonder about people.................................... |

PP, there are lots of detailed threads about this if you search for it. Start with St John's, NCRC, Aidan, and go from there. That's the nearly impossible to get into top tier, but there's also a very strong, very competitive next level in St Columba's, River, CCBC, CCPC, CCUMC, School for Friends, etc.
Tours are well underway, so start signing up for ones that interest you now. |
| Its another way to give your kid a head start. Eduction and learning begins at birth not at 3 years old. |
