Are you saying that you find her loud?

Big Surprise. Seriously, though, DCPS is going downhill when lousy leaders like Monica Aguirre of Oyster receive leadership awards for towing the line and leaders like Kim are left with no option but to leave because they are frustrated with the current system.

Perhaps she was simply lured away by bigger bucks.

She has turned around our neighborhood school and I am grateful for it.

Since when did Deal need to be turned around?

Let's say Deal thrived under her. But Deal has been a good school for a long time and did not need to be turned around.

20:35 you must have been living under a rock. NO ONE was going to Deal before she got there. Only 50% of Lafayette, Janey, and Murch were going to Deal. She has been essential to this community. I am sad that she won't be there for my child.

Kim was there seven years. And she put in a ton of hours, a schedule that would break your average citizen. There's no conspiracy here, there's no failure on the part of DCPS. Kim is simply moving onto the next stage of her career.

And doesn't she have a baby at home? I can see why she might want a job with more flexibility!

Hopefully, the standards and policies she established will enable a smooth transition and continued effectiveness.

Jordan, Pullens, and now Kim.

Kim was not appointed by Rhee but Janey appointed her. So her leaving was almost about right in the time-line scheme of things. To miss her is normal, wanting her to stay would be selfish.

Deal parent here. I 100% agree with pp. This is sad news but it actually makes some sense. How long should a prinicipal stay? 7 years of real solid accomplishments is a good run. I didn't know until the orientation that she had a young child so it actually makes sense to me.

Back under the bridge troll.

It is rare that such accomplished people stay as long as she did. She came in with a mission and went above and beyond what any of us expected could happen within 7 years. I am grateful for her leadership and the school she turned around.

I agree. What we all should be doing now is lobbying DCPS to ensure that the up and coming Melissa Kim's have the right support systems in place so they too will enjoy great tenures as their respective schools.
