It's My Birthday today - What advice do you have for me?

I was once 34 and single and when I look back now, I feel like I didn't appreciate my life nearly as much as I should have. Now I'm 43, with two amazing kids but much more difficult issues than the things that kept me up at night 9 years ago, mostly in terms of career balance and marital discord.

Words out of my mouth. Enjoy your life. Travel. Meet people. Enjoy your career - build your career. Know you you are. You can fall in love at any age and you can have kids at any age these days (within reason of course). You only live once and it really is so short and 34 is so young so enjoy it to your fullest. Marriage and family is not all it's cracked up to be. I know that it is hard being single and wanting something else, I've been there too, but if you're doing what you enjoy and enjoying life to its fullest you will meet the right person and your life will hopefully fall into a place close to where you envision it.

When i was 34 and in a bad relationship that was going nowhere I took a work assignment in a far far away developing country for 10 months. I traveled all over that continent and met so many interesting people and had so many new experiences. I remember my best friend at the time telling me don't go - you'll never find a man being as old as you are and wanting kids! I came back and within a week met the man i married and had 3 kids with. So don't focus on it and live life to its fullest! And happy birthday!

Enjoy every year. As you get older, you may not have the health and energy you do today. Your options are almost unlimited! Enjoy now while planning for your future.

Happy birthday!
