Feeling like a leper in Vienna- working mom-

Anonymous
Another working mom living in Vienna here. The key is to get involved in activities in which you can participate, and to invite over the families of your kids' friends. You can never compete with the SAHMs' bonds with each other, but there is a role for you if you look.

I'm in town (22180) and I work full time. I'd say it skews half and half, but it's mostly the SAHMs who post on this forum for obvious reasons (I'm off today).

I think moms in Vienna are snooty and standoffish regardless.

LOL not compared to the McLean moms. Maybe compared to the Burke moms.

OP. If you join Vienna Moms they have a subgroup for working moms. I think the moms on that group do their own weekend playdates and moms night out type of activities that are suited to their schedules. They also have tons of moms night out, volunteering activities, book club all in evenings. Some family events are on the weekend as well like the upcoming Halloween party. Most of my vienna mom friends are SAH only b/c I am SAH. I will say I am 30 most of my friend are late 30's early 40's. All of them are WAY more educated than me. Lawyers from top schools, dentists, teachers, psychologist but that doesn't affect our friendships at all. Its really just a matter or clicking with people.
