DC Public and Public Charter Schools
And without taking into consideration the seats that have to be reserved for Early Stages placements. |
Off-topic - but I just want to make sure I understand this as my child will be up for Pre-K next year with siblings already at Murch. Are you saying that you have kids currently in Murch and you are still on the wait list for pre-K? I had heard that everyone with siblings had gotten in. Hence my worry - I really don't want to do another year of preschool next year

My DD lost a couple of her friends at Barnard to other schools this year (damn you Yu Ying!) It is possible that there were last minute openings, I would call the school and make sure the principal knows you are still interested.

There are 19 kids in my child's Pre K class at Murch as of this morning. Teacher thinks another student will be starting in the next week. (The slot had been held pending placement of a student with special education needs). I don't get the previous poster's posting either- there are plenty of kids who are in Pre K who do not have older siblings (including us and we got in during the original lottery). |
| FYI- we were number 47 on the waitlist for Bancroft PK-3 and were called yesterday and offered a spot. We turned it down b/c DS has already started another DCPS school. |
| We were in the 40s at Ludlow for preschool and I'm amazed we haven't been called (I haven't followed up because we are elsewhere and happy). They have openings in preK. I think the fact that so many slots open up at peabody and 2Rs in preK, put extra demand on those preschool slots on the Hill - even in less generally popular schools. |
We moved inbounds in June so we got tossed onto the waitlist. Sorry, should have made that more clear. |
PP Here - 14:12 and 14:26 - thanks for the update! I am so ready to be done with preschool so the thought that I might have to do another year

Sorry! Didn't mean to stress you out. I have been stressed figuring out what to do with my 4 year old, not at Murch. Just trying to work our way up slowly through 300 kids.

PP - it was an e-mail from Nancy Iheanacho (OOC) at DCPS. We are on the DCPS mailing list, which I assumed we were put on when we entered the lottery. Don't know who this person is specifically, but her e-mail is nancy.iheanacho@dc.gov. And the e-mail also suggests calling the Critical Response Team at 202-478-5738 if you have any questions.
Hope this helps! |
