I have the same question. I buy the sliced apples in the bags for convenience, but HATE out expensive they are.

At home, I let my daughter dip her apples in orange juice. Makes a mess, but it prevents the browning.

My kid has very adverse to the apples turning brown. Thanks for reviving this thread I've been buying the little bags at giant but they are a rip off and not even full slices?

I dip the knife in oj between slicing.

They make a citrus acid spray that you can buy.

That's too much effort for me-- (or too much planning?)-- so when I pack apples for my son in a small container, I put them on the bottom, then I put a layer of citrus fruit on the top (usually clementines). He doesn't complain.
