Why are we still letting people from Pakistan into this country?

I just don't believe that every citizen of Pakistan is coming here to learn nuclear science and kill us all. Although I've certainly met plenty of Pakistanis who were extremely bright.
A lot of people in the countries we vilify are actually level headed, enlightened individuals who believe in liberty, scientific endeavours and freedom of worship. A lot of them come here hoping to make America their forever home.

And a lot of natural-born Americans are stockpiling guns and planning the possible overthrow of our government. And calling themselves patriots as they contemplate treason.

When did Pakistanis start attacking us? If I recall correctly, the 9/11 attackers came from these countries: Saudi Arabia Arab Emirates Lebanon
The attacker in Ft. Hood was American
The Grenade Attacker was American
USS Cole: Saudi/Yemeni

So why do you and the other Republicans not call for measures against Saudis, Emirates, etc.? Oil. Your principles go out the window because you want lower gas prices.

Instead of accepting that shit happens and making changes to policies and procedures, scared people fall in love with the idea of a Grand Gesture -- either attacking another country or hassling it and its citizens.

Problem with antagonizing Pakistan is that we'll just be driving it into the Chinese orbit. On the other hand, the US will serve a role similar in the next Cold War (*) that the UK did in the last Cold War.

(*) It'll be between China and India. Frankly, I'll pick India as they seem to be closer to our multi-cultural, social democratic ideal.

This thread is really pathetic. I am really surprised at some of the incredibly racist things I've read on DCUM. It's amazing what people will write when they think no one will ever identify them. But this thread really tops it all. No one is even trying to hide their blatant xenophobia here. I just dug up a Harris poll taken right after Sept 11, 2001 that shows 13 percent of Arab-Americans actually ADMITTED to pollsters that they sympathized with the attackers. http://www.harrisinteractive.com/vault/Harris-Interactive-Poll-Research-AMERICA-ATTACKED-2001-09.pdf

Even a smaller percentage actually commit terrorist acts, but it's enough to force a restructuring of our society to look for threats from within our own country.
