Should I feel comforted by the PEPCO call saying they won't restore pwr for many days?

Lol. Don't care if my house is flooded or blown to smithereens as long as I have internet.

you will lose power if there is a flood. you may just lose it later than others who don't have their lines buried.

If people actually trimmed the trees on their property that PEPCO can't legally go in and trim to prevent these outages we wouldn't have such a big problem.

Funny, that's a job I have been putting off, and putting off - and am now regretting putting it off. Crap.

Just got the call - am in MoCo. It doesn't really comfort me. Makes me even more anxious. Though last years power outages led to the 4 month old sleeping in my lap right now, I'm not ready for another!

To give PEPCO some credit (as much as it pains me), their contractors have been out all over MoCo trimming trees since February or so. I HOPE this helps mitigate damage.

We have Dominion but have only lived in this area for under a year. Has anyone had problems with them in the past?

We just got "THE CALL" from Pepco via recorded message. Be forewarned.

Then don't shuck like bunnies if the power goes out! It's not Pepco's fault you decided to do the deed...

Don't worry, they are only doing this because the Maryland Public Service Commission and legislature have been threatening sanctions. In any case, I hope it helps.

Yes! Every time there is a storm (rain or snow) we lose our power. We are in N. Arlington, and while there are a lot of trees around us, Dominion doesn't do a good job trimming them to prevent the outages.

my condolences. We used to live in the district and power went out every time it rained. We now live in VA and when looking to buy, I refused to buy in moco because of pepco.

WTF?? This is what I find crazy.

Yes, I understand that a huge storm means you lose power. But, we're in MoCo and we have lost power SO MANY times and it has stayed out in cases where other areas (DC/VA) have not had issues. Why can't PEPCO get it together?
