Men have this strange idea that due dates are some sort of fixed thing, that because the doctor says so, the bay will come then. It's sort of the "scientific" approach, when really, due dates are educated guesses that miss all the time.

Explain to him that the due date is not fixed, and that if you try the next month and the baby comes early you'd be in the same boat, that he's going to have to let go of the idea that this can be predicted or controlled.

You don't need to be furious, just explain the reality to him. It may freak him out more but he'll see that postponing now for an event in May makes no sense for such an unpredictable process.
