Would you be pissed if a waitress did this to you?

Anonymous
I would be a bit upset, but not so upset as to completely forget basic capitalization rules.

OP I too would be pissed because the waitress could have approached you quietly. Instead she chose to cause a scene. Personally, I would call the management and calmly explain your unhappiness at the situation.

I agree with this. There was no reason for her to cause a scene when she could have calmly asked you if you paid w/o drawing attention.

OP here. I wrote an email to the owner and told him how much I enjoyed his place and then said what happened and how we plan on returning on the basis of the food, which was delish...but that another person might not. And that if I owned the business I might want to know about things like this, so excuse my meddling.

And all of this is true. This place rules and I know it was a long time coming, I would hate to see it suffer because the server is a little off.

Done!

I wouldn't return after that. She will know you complained, and she might do something to your food.

Wait a month. She probably won't be there anymore.

Yes, I'd be ticked. I wouldn't go back. It would pretty much kill the place for me. And what she did was embarrassing -- for you and her.

You shouldn't of just left....you should have gone in, spoken firmly to the manager about her, pointed out who was at the register when you paid and HANDLED IT rather than just walking away.

I understand that you paid, but now you are embarrassed and pissed off because it was around people who knew you.

Next time, if there is a next time anywhere - handle it.

I'd rub the receipt on her face and be louder than her.

Yup I'm that kind of person.

Congratulations! You just got this poor waitress fire. Happy, now?

If I had the time/inclination, I wouldn't have left, I would have marched back into the restaurant, asked to see a manager, and had him/her run a report from the register. Or talk to the cashier. Which is what she ought to have done before she started chasing you down, screaming.

This.

Not OP but jobs are not entitlements. If true, this goes beyond slow service, etc. It sounds like a server chased this family down and made them feel like criminals. The waitress should be retrained. Meantime, OP's email to management sounds unctuous and grody. So much so that I suspect this whole post is fakedy fake.

Ew. I hope I don't know you.

The kind that likes to get into physical fights? I think this kind of behavior might risk you getting your lights punched out or some time in adult time out at the local jail along with fines and a court appearance.

I'd of confronted her with my reciept. I'm not sure why you did not do that, you must be really passive. I would have handled it myself and would not have felt the need to write a letter or call management. I'm also not easily embarrassed.
