OP here - wanted to give an update.
Went to the neighborhood the other day and polled the neighbors. Got some scoop on the three registered offenders, which reassured us. Of course this taking the neighbors on their word, but I got the sense the neighbors are all vigilent about the neighborhood and aware of the offenders. Read about 1 of the offenders in the newspaper, and the other 2 just essentially made stupid mistakes. In conclusion, we've learned a lot from just speaking with the neighbors. |

Here I have links to the "official" governmental run websites for sex offenders: http://www.miguelavila.com/Relocation.shtml
I did have a past client whom had a family member updating this information for Virginia. He did not want to check for sex offenders upon purchase since he told me that the website is generally about 6 months behind the times and has been told that sex offenders move around. The most important thing to do is talk to the neighbors and be vigilant! If you need help to sell or buy real estate, please contact me to see how I can help. http://www.miguelavila.com/ |

Hey there...I found out by just poking around with someone who I know is on the list that people end up on the list for all sorts or screwy reasons. Not to say that I'd want my kid running around with that, but my neighbor had porn shipped to his house and after the fact it was discovered that one of the many many people in the printed porn was 17. Bam. Sex offender list.
I also heard of someone who ended up on the list for not seatbelting a child in a car? Can that be right? I agree with PP's who say it could be an 18 year old who had sex with his 17 year old girlfriend. Man times are different now. |
